My
screenwriting journey began while attending Brooklyn College and became
a real passion while studying 16mm film production at
Humboldt State University. My early
films Verse Who, The Struggle & The Jazz, When
Drums
Speak, and Cole's
Train,
portend a lifelong cinematic focus on working class
characters using distinctive framing and taut dialogue. My personal
films
include documentaries and narratives, including I
See
Myself As You, Street
Soldiers, City
Park, Lawrenceville
Highway, Beautifulese, and Black/Muslim.
I also wrote, produced, edited and directed
the feature film Hold
For Release.
Through the
years, I've done
cinematography on several documentaries and
narratives, including
Ricky's Palm & Rib, Abiku,
Actual Retail Price, Lawrenceville
Highway, and Love: The American Way using vintage
lenses and the Black Magic Cinema Camera.
My
upcoming projects include
the horror short,
Melody, and feature film Barry Waits.
